Doxazosin is used alone or in combination with other drugs to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. This medication is also used in men to treat the symptoms of a prostate gland condition called BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia, also known as enlarged prostate). It does not shrink the prostate, but it works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder neck and prostate. Relaxing these muscles leads to relief of symptoms of BPH such as the feeling of needing to urinate frequently or urgently, weak stream, difficulty in beginning the flow of urine, and the need to urinate during the middle of the night.Doxazosin belongs to a class of medications called alpha blockers. How to use Doxazocin OralTake this medication by mouth with or without food, usually once daily or as directed by your doctor. To avoid injury related to dizziness or fainting, take your first dose of doxazosin at bedtime. Your dose may be gradually increased. Take your first new dose at bedtime when your dose is increased unless directed otherwise by your doctor.Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day.It is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick.Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor. Some conditions may become worse when the drug is abruptly stopped. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased.Inform your doctor if your condition persists or worsens (e.g., your blood pressure readings increase or your BPH symptoms worsen). Lopid is used for: Treating high blood cholesterol and triglyceride. Gemfibrozil helps reduce cholesterol and triglycerides (fatty acids) in the blood. High levels of these types of fat in the blood are associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis (clogged arteries).Gemfibrozil is used to treat very high cholesterol and triglyceride levels in people with pancreatitis.Gemfibrozil is also used to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other heart complications in people with high cholesterol and triglycerides who have not been helped by other treatment methods.Lopid is prescribed, along with a special diet, for treatment of people with very high levels of serum triglycerides (a fatty substance in the blood) who are at risk of developing pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) and who do not respond adequately to a strict diet. This drug can also be used to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease in people who have failed to respond to weight loss, diet, exercise, and other triglyceride- or cholesterol-lowering drugs. This medication is used to treat several types of cancer and blood problems (e.g., squamous cell carcinoma, chronic myelogenous leukemia, sickle cell anemia). Hydroxyurea belongs to a class of drugs known as antineoplastics. It works by decreasing cancer cells and abnormal blood cells.OTHER USES: This section contains uses of this drug that are not listed in the approved professional labeling for the drug but that may be prescribed by your health care professional. Use this drug for a condition that is listed in this section only if it has been so prescribed by your health care professional. This drug may also be used to treat polycythemia vera, thrombocythemia, and psoriasis. How to use Hydroxyurea OralTake this medication by mouth usually once daily or exactly as directed by your doctor. Unless your doctor instructs you otherwise, drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication. This helps your kidneys remove the drug from your body and may decrease some of the side effects. If you cannot swallow capsules, you may empty the contents into a glass of water and drink it immediately. If you open the capsule, be careful not to touch or inhale the drug powder.Dosage is based on your body weight, medical condition, kidney function, and response to treatment. Your dose may be temporarily stopped by your doctor if your blood counts drop too low.For caregivers: Wear disposable gloves when handling this medication or its container. If the powder inside the capsule spills, wipe it up with a damp paper towel and immediately place the towel in a closed plastic bag. Do not throw this plastic bag in the regular garbage, but dispose of it in special containers (ask your pharmacist for more information). Wash hands after handling the medication.Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day. Do not change your dose or stop taking this medication unless instructed to do so by your doctor. Doing so could increase side effects or decrease the drug's effectiveness. Voriconazole is used to treat serious fungal infections such as invasive aspergillosis (a fungal infection that begins in the lungs and spreads through the bloodstream to other organs) and esophageal candidiasis (infection by a yeast-like fungus that may cause white patching in the mouth and throat). Voriconazole is in a class of antifungal medications called triazoles. It works by slowing the growth of the fungi that cause infection. Voriconazole comes as a tablet and a suspension (liquid) to take by mouth. It is usually taken every 12 hours on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 1 hour after a meal. To help you remember to take voriconazole, take it at around the same times every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take voriconazole exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. If you are taking voriconazole suspension, shake the closed bottle for about 10 seconds before each use to mix the medication evenly. Do not mix the suspension with any other medications, water, or any other liquid. Always use the measuring device that comes with your medication. You may not get the right amount of medication if you use a household spoon to measure your dose.At the beginning of your treatment, you may receive voriconazole by intravenous (into a vein) injection. When you begin taking voriconazole by mouth, your doctor may start you on a low dose and increase your dose if your condition does not improve. Your doctor also may decrease your dose if you experience side effects from voriconazole. The length of your treatment depends on your general health, the type of infection you have, and how well you respond to the medication. If you are taking voriconazole for esophageal candidiasis, you will take it for at least 14 days. If you are taking voriconazole for aspergillosis, you may take it for several months or longer. Continue to take voriconazole even if you feel well. Do not stop taking voriconazole without talking to your doctor.
This product is able to be sourced and supplied at excellent prices because of favourable cross border currency conversions. All products are authentic brand names and will include a product information insert in English.Medical Information:Entacapone (in-TACK-a-pohn)is used in combination with levodopa/carbidopa to treat Parkinson's disease, sometimes referred to as shaking palsy. Some patients experience signs and symptoms of end-of-dose ôwearing-offö effect despite taking levodopa/carbidopa. Entacapone enhances the effect of levodopa/carbidopa. By improving muscle control, this medicine allows more normal movements of the body.Comtan is used for Parkinson's disease. It is prescribed when doses of the combination drug levodopa/carbidopa (Sinemet) begin to wear off too soon. By extending the effect of each dose of Sinemet, it frees the patient from the stiffness and tremors of Parkinson's for a longer period of time.Comtan works by inhibiting the effect of an enzyme that breaks down the levodopa in Sinemet. It has no effect on Parkinson's disease when used by itself. When used with levodopa and carbidopa, entacapone increases levels of levodopa (Dopar, Larodopa, Sinemet) in the body.Entacapone is used with carbidopa and levodopa to treat patients with Parkinson's disease who experience the signs and symptoms of end-of-dose "wearing-off". Entacapone is used only in combination with carbidopa and levodopa. It has no effect if it is used on its own.Treating Parkinson disease when used with levodopa/carbidopa.Comtan is a catechol-o-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitor. It works by increasing the levels of levodopa/carbidopa in the brain, thereby enhancing its effectiveness. Ciclopirox topical solution is used along with regular nail trimming to treat fungal infections of the fingernails and toenails (an infection that may cause nail discoloration, splitting and pain). Ciclopirox is in a class of medications called antifungals. It works by stopping the growth of nail fungus.Ciclopirox comes as a solution to apply to nails and the skin immediately surrounding and under the nails. It is usually applied once a day. To help you remember to use ciclopirox, apply it around the same time every day, usually at bedtime. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use ciclopirox exactly as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than prescribed by your doctor.Ciclopirox is used to improve the condition of nails, but may not completely cure nail fungus. It may take 6 months or longer before you notice that your nails are getting better. Continue to use ciclopirox daily as directed. Do not stop using ciclopirox without talking to your doctor.Ciclopirox topical solution will work best if you trim your nails regularly during your treatment. You should remove all loose nail or nail material using a nail clipper or nail file before you begin treatment and every week during your treatment. Your doctor will show you how to do this. Your doctor will also trim your nails once each month during your treatment.Only apply ciclopirox topical solution to your nails and the skin under and around your nails. Be careful not to get the solution on any other areas of the skin or parts of your body, especially in or near your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina.Do not use nail polish or other nail cosmetic products on nails treated with ciclopirox topical solution.Do not take a bath, shower, or swim for at least 8 hours after applying ciclopirox topical solution.Ciclopirox topical solution may catch fire. Do not use this medication near heat or an open flame, such as a cigarette.
Bisoprolol is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. Bisoprolol is in a class of medications called beta blockers. It works by slowing the heart rate and relaxing the blood vessels so the heart does not have to pump as hard.Bisoprolol comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day. To help you remember to take bisoprolol, take it around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take bisoprolol exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of bisoprolol and gradually increase your dose.Bisoprolol controls high blood pressure but does not cure it. It may take a few weeks before you feel the full benefit of bisoprolol. Continue to take bisoprolol even if you feel well. Do not stop taking bisoprolol without talking to your doctor. Suddenly stopping bisoprolol may cause angina (chest pain), heart attack, or irregular heartbeat.Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually. This belongs to the group of medicines known as vitamins.Alfacalcidol is a form of Vitamin D. Vitamin D is necessary for healthy bones and teeth, and a healthy immune system.Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin. It controls the absorption of calcium from the gut and is used to make bones. The body can make vitamin D when the skin is exposed to sunlight. Deficiency is caused by inadequate exposure to sunlight and low consumption of foods containing Vitamin D. The best natural sources are found in oily fish (sardine, herring, salmon and tuna), liver, dairy products and egg yolks.Long-term Vitamin D deficiency may cause low blood levels of calcium and phosphate, which results in the softening of the bones. In children this can cause abnormal bone development (rickets) and in adults it can cause osteoporosis, backache, muscle weakness, bone pain and fractures. Alfacalcidol is used to treat Vitamin D deficiency and conditions where there is not enough calcium in the blood especially in patients who have kidney problems.Alfacalcidol is also sometimes known as hydroxycholecalciferol. You may notice the use of either spelling on your container.Alfacalcidol is available in capsule, oral drops and injection form.It is also sometimes known as: One-Alpha. You may notice the use of any of these names on the packaging of your medicine. How does it work? When Vitamin D is ingested in the form usually present in the diet (or produced in the skin by the action of sunlight) it requires to be "activated" by a series of chemical steps before it has any effect in the body. An important action of Vitamin D is to increase the absorption of calcium in the food we eat and so to maintain calcium stores in the body. One step in the activation of the Vitamin takes place in the kidney and requires the presence of a hormone called parathyroid hormone (PTH). When PTH is lacking in the body (which is the case following parathyroidectomy) the kidney step cannot take place and calcium deficiency (hypocalcaemia) results. To get around this problem it is necessary to by-pass the kidney step by taking the "activated" form of Vitamin D which is Alfacalcidol. Alfacalcidol is therefore used to prevent Vitamin D deficiency and thus hypocalcaemia in people who have undergone the surgical removal of their parathyroid glands (parathyroidectomy). How do I take it?Alfacalcidol can be taken as a capsule or as a liquid for which purpose a measure/dispenser is provided. The individual dose is that required to maintain a normal level of calcium in the blood. It may be adjusted from time to time in response to blood test results. Most adults require to take between 1 microgram and 3 microgram Alfacalcidol daily in order to achieve initial control of their calcium level but the maintenance dose thereafter is normally in the range 0.25 microgram to 1 microgram per day. The dose is taken once a day and at any time of the day. This product is able to be sourced and supplied at excellent prices because of favourable cross border currency conversions. All products are authentic brand names and will include a product information insert in English.Medical Information:This medication is used short-term in people with a certain type of bleeding disorder (hemophilia) to prevent and reduce bleeding from having a tooth pulled (extraction). It is also used in people with other high-risk bleeding conditions to control bleeding at such times as after surgery or an injury, during heavy nosebleeds, or during heavy menstrual bleeding.Tranexamic acid works by helping the blood clot normally to prevent and stop prolonged bleeding. It belongs to a class of drugs known as anti-fibrinolytics.How to use Tranexamic Acid OralTake this medication by mouth, usually 2 to 4 times daily or as directed by your doctor. The dosage and length of treatment is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Dosage is also based on your weight. Do not increase your dose, take it more frequently, or take it for a longer time than prescribed.Take this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same times each day.Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
Pioglitazone is used with a diet and exercise program and sometimes with other medications, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and therefore cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Pioglitazone is in a class of medications called thiazolidinediones. It works by increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin, a natural substance that helps control blood sugar levels. Pioglitazone is not used to treat type 1 diabetes (condition in which the body does not produce insulin and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood) or diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious condition that may develop if high blood sugar is not treated).Pioglitazone comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once daily with or without meals. Take pioglitazone at around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take pioglitazone exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.Your doctor may start you on a low dose of pioglitazone and gradually increase your dose.Pioglitazone controls type 2 diabetes but does not cure it. It may take 2 weeks for your blood sugar to decrease and several weeks longer for you to feel the full effect of pioglitazone. Continue to take pioglitazone even if you feel well. Do not stop taking pioglitazone without talking to your doctor.
Didanosine is used for: Treating HIV infection when used in combination with other medicines. Didanosine is an antiviral medication that prevents human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cells from multiplying in your body.Didanosine is used to treat HIV, which causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Didanosine is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.Didanosine is one of the drugs used to fight the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)--the deadly cause of AIDS. Over a period of years, HIV slowly destroys the immune system, leaving the body defenseless against infection. Didanosine disrupts reproduction of HIV, thereby staving off the immune system's collapse.Signs and symptoms of advanced HIV infection include diarrhea, fever, headache, infections, problems with the nervous system, rash, sore throat, and significant weight loss.Didanosine (di-DAN-oe-seen) (also known as ddI) is used in the treatment of the infection caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). HIV is the virus responsible for acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).Didanosine (ddI) will not cure or prevent HIV infection or AIDS; however, it helps keep HIV from reproducing and appears to slow down the destruction of the immune system. This may help delay the development of problems usually related to AIDS or HIV disease. Didanosine will not keep you from spreading HIV to other people. People who receive this medicine may continue to have the problems usually related to AIDS or HIV disease.Didanosine may cause some serious side effects, including pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas). Symptoms of pancreatitis include stomach pain, and nausea and vomiting. Didanosine may also cause peripheral neuropathy. Symptoms of peripheral neuropathy include tingling, burning, numbness, and pain in the hands or feet. Check with your doctor if any new health problems or symptoms occur while you are taking didanosine . Lidocaine patches are used to relieve the pain of post-herpetic neuralgia (the burning, stabbing pains, or aches that may last for months or years after a shingles infection). Lidocaine is in a class of medications called local anesthetics. It works by stopping nerves from sending pain signals.Lidocaine comes as a patch to apply to the skin. It is applied only once a day as needed for pain. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use lidocaine patches exactly as directed.Your doctor will tell you how many lidocaine patches you may use at one time and the length of time you may wear the patches. Never apply more than three patches at one time, and never wear patches for more than 12 hours per day. Using too many patches or leaving patches on for too long may cause serious side effects. To apply the patches, follow these steps: Look at the skin that you plan to cover with a lidocaine patch. If the skin is broken or blistered, do not apply a patch to that area. Use scissors to remove the outer seal from the package. Then pull apart the zipper seal. Remove up to three patches from the package and press the zipper seal tightly together. The remaining patches may dry out if the zipper seal is not tightly closed. Cut patch(es) to the size and shape that will cover your most painful area. Peel the transparent liner off the back of the patch(es). Press the patch(es) firmly onto your skin. If you are applying a patch to your face, be careful not to let it touch your eyes. If you do get lidocaine in your eye, wash it with plenty of water or saline solution. Wash your hands after handling lidocaine patches. Do not reuse lidocaine patches. After you are finished using a patch, remove it and dispose of it out of reach of children and pets. Used patches contain enough medication to seriously harm a child or pet. Ziprasidone is used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia (a mental illness that causes disturbed or unusual thinking, loss of interest in life, and strong or inappropriate emotions). It is also used to treat episodes of mania (frenzied, abnormally excited or irritated mood) or mixed episodes (symptoms of mania and depression that happen together) in patients with bipolar disorder (manic depressive disorder; a disease that causes episodes of depression, episodes of mania, and other abnormal moods). Ziprasidone is in a class of medications called atypical antipsychotics. It works by changing the activity of certain natural substances in the brain.Ziprasidone comes as a capsule to take by mouth. It is usually taken twice a day with food. Take ziprasidone at around the same times every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take ziprasidone exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.Your doctor may start you on a low dose of ziprasidone and gradually increase your dose.Ziprasidone may help control your symptoms but will not cure your condition. Continue to take ziprasidone even if you feel well. Do not stop taking ziprasidone without talking to your doctor. This medication is used to help people over 18 years of age quit smoking. When a person stops smoking, they go through withdrawal from nicotine, causing symptoms such as irritability, mood swings, restlessness, trouble concentrating, and increased appetite. This medication helps reduce the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal by replacing some of the nicotine that the person is no longer getting through cigarettes. Gradually, the dose is reduced until the person no longer craves nicotine, and they can stop using the medication. This medication works best when used with a comprehensive program to quit smoking.
Insulin is produced by the pancreas and is the main hormone responsible for controlling sugar levels in the blood. It normally makes the cells of the body remove excess sugar from the blood. People with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin dependent diabetes) have a deficiency of insulin, and the cells of their bodies are also resistant to the action of insulin. This means that blood sugar levels can become too high. Gliclazide is a type of antidiabetic medicine known as a sulphonylurea. It is used to help lower blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. It works by acting on the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. These cells are called beta cells, and gliclazide causes them to produce more insulin. Gliclazide improves insulin production immediately after eating. This is called early or first phase insulin secretion, and does not normally happen in people with type 2 diabetes. The enhanced insulin production results in a blood sugar lowering effect in response to meals or glucose, as occurs naturally in non-diabetic people. Gliclazide is used when dietary measures, weight loss and physical exercise are not enough to lower blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes. Gliclazide has been shown to prevent blood cells called platelets from clumping together in the blood. It also increases the breakdown of blood clots that form within the blood vessels. This may help prevent the long-term complications of diabetes, which may be partly due to changes in the blood vessels caused by these mechanisms.
This medicine contains the active ingredient sodium cromoglicate (previously spelt cromoglycate in the UK), which is a type of medicine used to relieve the symptoms of allergies. Sodium cromoglicate eye drops are used to relieve the symptoms of eye allergies such as hayfever.Sodium cromoglicate works by reducing allergic responses. It is not fully understood how it does this, but it is thought to work by 'stabilising' immune cells called mast cells. Mast cells are an important part of the immune system. They become sensitised when they are exposed to foreign particles or allergens, for example pollen or dust mites. When this happens, the mast cells release substances that include histamine, and these subsequently go on to cause inflammation as part of the bodyÆs immune response to fight the foreign substance. Inflammation of the eye causes the typical symptoms of an eye allergy - redness, itching and a watery discharge.By stabilising the mast cells, sodium cromoglicate is thought to prevent the substances that cause the inflammation, eg histamine, from being released when the cells encounter an allergen. This prevents the allergic response and relieves the symptoms of the allergy.Sodium cromoglicate eye drops are used to reduce the symptoms of eye allergies (allergic conjunctivitis) such as hayfever. They provide relief from red, itchy, watery and puffy eyes, and work best when they are used regularly to prevent the allergy, even when you don't have symptoms. What is it used for? Allergic conjunctivitis
How to use Doxazosin OralTake this medication by mouth with or without food, usually once daily or as directed by your doctor. |
